Welcome to the registration page to YMCA Texas Youth and Government. It’s important that we share with you what to expect during our program year. Starting with the very beginning with club registration to the very end for registering to attend our State Conference next year in late January and late February.

Registration Step-by-Step

Step 1: In order for students and adults to be able to register during the program year, Club advisors must fill out the Club Registration Form. The form will typically be sent out toward the end of the school year or during the summer so clubs have ample time to decide if they would like to continue, change advisors, or talk to the State Office in the event that a new club would like to participate.

Registering your club allows the state office to have a better idea of how many participants to expect in the upcoming program year and allows us to build out better resources to support our club advisors. By having a clear point of contact for each club we can make sure Advisors get all necessary program news and updates, and makes tracking student registration easier.

Step 2: Complete program registration. Registration involved several steps, including completing or updating your personal information, paying the program fee, and for students, receiving parent authorization. At this point we will collect information like meal preferences, medical alerts/allergies, parent contact information and more. This information allows us to better plan our conferences, and contact parents when needed about program authorization, payment and more.  All steps must be completed in order for students to register for Regional Conference.

Your Program registration Fee helps our program run by paying for the staff that run the program. These are the people that will answer your questions, organize your conferences, and create curriculum and challenges for you as you participate in the program. Without these fees it would not be possible for the program to run!

If your school plans to ask for an invoice rather than have students pay for their registration out of pocket, make sure to contact your local regional leader regarding invoice codes. Please do so before program registration begins to make registration as smooth as possible.

Once you complete the Parent Authorization form, your child’s registration remains incomplete.  Once you hit submit on that form, you will receive an email confirming your registration. In that email you will be asked to click on a link that finalizes your child’s registration and verifies your identity as the person who signed the form. While the link might take you to a page that says “sorry, there seems to be a problem”, as long as you receive a final email that notifies you that your signature has been sealed, you will have completed program registration, and your child will be cleared to participate.

Step 3: After program registration closes, District Conference Registration will open shortly after. At this point, if you have not received parent approval you will be unable to register for District. For District registration you must:

  • Pay the District conference fee. This will vary by region.
  • Upload your materials, including bills, proposals, and briefs.
  • Verify meal preferences and other details for the day of conference

Your fee for the regional conference goes toward providing a meal for you during the conference, providing swag like t-shirts and other items, as well as providing transportation to the conference in certain districts.

Step 4: If you qualify after District Conference, State registration will open sometime in late November – early December. In order to register for State you must have registered for both program, and registered and attended regionals. At this point, we will ask students to upload their materials after edits are made from District. Please be mindful that NO edits can be made once materials are submitted, so you must double check materials before submission.

State Registration involves:

  • Updating Section Information and Uploading Section Materials
  • Completing Payment (Cost varies by District)

In order to organize the State Conference, we must pay for hotel rooming, meals, social activities, print materials like name placards and name tags, and finally swag for our participants. Texas Youth and Government does not profit off of the fees, as they are exclusively used to host the conference. If you are interested in seeking financial assistance to help offset the cost to attend, please reach out to your District Director. You can find their contact information here.

We are dedicated to making our program as accessible as possible!

In order to print the bill books and proposal books provided to students during conference we must have all section materials by the state registration deadline. If we were to accept edits to submissions, we would be unable to send the section materials to be printed on time, and students would not have access to printed bills, briefs, etc.

We would love for every one of our participants to be able to attend our State Conference. However, because we host the conference at locations like the state Capitol and County/ Federal Courthouses, we can only accommodate so many students. These locations are limited in the number of rooms we can rent out and have strict rules regarding how many people can be in said rooms.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Check your emails. Newsletters sent regarding registration will typically have your ID number listed.
  • Contact your advisor. They should have a list of all their students ID’s if you’re a returner.
  • Fill out the forgot ID form found on our website, which will automatically send you your ID number.
  • Try using nicknames as well as your full name. For example, if your name is Christian, you may have registered previously as Chris or vice versa. This is also true for hyphenated last names. Try using each of your last names individually, and combined with the Hyphen.
  • Did you use a new email this year then when you’ve registered in previous years? This will confuse our system.
  • Are there any spelling errors in your name or email?
  • Make sure the email you listed and the email for your parents do NOT match. When parents and students use the same email, it creates errors in our system.
  • Check to see if all the required fields are submitted, especially the “I Agree” checkboxes that are easy to overlook.
  • If you have applied and qualify to receive financial aid, make sure to check emails with your District Director to find your discount code. If they have not provided it yet, please email them to ask them for the code.
  • If your school is using invoices to cover registration fees, ask your advisor to provide the invoice code.
  • Check to make sure all required fields are filled out before submitting again.
  • Fill out our support form if you are still having trouble and we will reach out to help you!
  • Double check spam/junk folders, as sometimes emails go unnoticed in these areas.
  • Check both of your parents’ emails if you submitted information for both parent 1 and parent 2.
  • Fill out our support form if you still can’t find the email, and we will forward you a copy.
