The Youth Advocate Program at National Advocacy Days is designed for high school Youth and Government students who are passionate about advocating on behalf of the Y’s agenda in support of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Students spend three full days in Washington, D.C. meeting with Y staff and legislators to advance these causes. They gain exposure to national policy making, Y-USA advocacy efforts, Youth and Government alumni, public policy career tracks, and more. The program takes place in early March.
Students interested in NAD should speak directly to their club advisors or District Directors by mid-September. The State Office selects NAD delegates based on District Director nominations. Two Texas Youth and Government students attend NAD each year.
The State Office pays NAD delegates’ registration fee of $500. However, students are responsible for their airfare to and from Washington, D.C.
