THE HISTORY OF THE CAMPUS, WHERE PART OF THE STATE CONFERENCE IS BEING HELD

Austin, TX — The ACC Highland Campus is a campus of beauty, innovative sustainability, learning, and training facilities. What was once the Highland Mall is now a beautiful college campus being remade for learning and the greatness of students wishing to pursue a higher education. Summarizing the ACC Highland Campus website, the Highland Mall, which had its grand opening in 1971 as Austin’s largest indoor regional shopping center, faced a problem. Its declining popularity had caused the mall to fade from people’s minds, until ACC partnered with RedLeaf Properties in 2010 to purchase sections of the complex.

In late 2012, ACC completed the purchase and began breathing new life

into the mall, transforming it into a modern college campus and a vibrant mixed-use community. Not only is it a place for learning, but the campus also holds classrooms for the YMCA’s Texas Youth and Government state conference. As the ACC website states, the campus serves many programs and services for students, such as culinary arts, fashion design, music, radio-TV-film, game design, visual communications, jewelry, drama, dance, and more.

Home to the world’s largest learning lab, with an impressive 604 computer stations, the lab is designed to help students engage and have more personalized work in their environment. Loyal to our country and military, the ACC Highland Campus is a center for military families. Here, spouses and children of military personnel can adjust to the challenges of living in Central Texas. Another highlight of this center is offering resources and workshops to help with finding jobs and housing.

Putting the future of entertainment in the hands of ACC’s talented radio-television-film, game design, photography, and visual arts students, ACC is a beautiful and interactive campus with a unique history compared to traditional colleges. It inspires many students to strive for greatness in their studies.
