Elementary School Program Overview

Texas Youth and Government is piloting a new program for 4th and 5th graders during the week of August 10-14, 2020. Democracy must be learned by each generation and our goal is to create an interest in civics and government among younger students. We will be teaching young students about government and inspire them to become responsible citizens and future civic leaders. We will also introduce them to the Texas Junior Youth and Government program and provide information on how they can join a club in middle school.

WHAT: Our program consists of 5 class sessions that will occur once a day and last approximately 45-60 minutes. There is no cost to participate in the program.

WHO: Any student that will be in 4th thru 6th grade in the 2020-2021 school year is eligible to participate.

WHEN: The class will take place during the week of August 10-14, 2020. Sessions will take place at 1:30 pm and 6:00 pm every day and when registering, students can pick which time works best for them.

WHERE: All sessions will occur virtually on Zoom and students must have access to technology and an internet connection in order to participate.
